How Do Projectors Produce Black: The Science Behind the Dark
Projectors have become an integral part of everyday life, used for presentations, entertainment, and even as home theater systems. Light enters the projector and passes through each of these panels, which have tiny liquid crystals that can either block the light or allow it to pass through, depending on the image being produced. Similar to DLP projectors, LCD projectors use a lamp that produces white light for the panels to work with.
To create black on an LCD projector, the light going through the panel must be blocked, much like with DLP projectors. To do this, the liquid crystals are oriented so that no light passes through, effectively creating a black pixel in the image. This process, much like the DLP projectors, is used in dark shades.
