How To Safely Jailbreak Your Mi TV Box
If you own a Mi TV Box, you know the benefits that come with it. The Mi TV Box allows you to stream content from various sources, including Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube, without being tied down to a cable contract. However, the device has its limitations due to its software restricting certain features. This is where jailbreaking comes in.
Jailbreaking is the process of removing restrictions placed on the software of a device. It can unlock new features that were not available before, install apps that are not on the official app store or modify functions to enhance the user experience.
If you’re interested in jailbreaking your Mi TV Box, here is a guide on how to do it safely.
1. Backup Your Data
Before jailbreaking, make sure to back up all the data on your device. This includes personal files, app data, and system data. In case something goes wrong during the jailbreak process, you don’t want to lose all your data.
2. Enable Developer Options
To access developer options on your Mi TV Box, go to Settings > About > click on Build 7 times. You will see a notification that says “You are now a developer!” This gives you access to developer options, which is necessary to proceed with the jailbreak.
3. Install ADB and Fastboot
To jailbreak your Mi TV Box, you need to install ADB (Android Debug Bridge) and Fastboot on your computer. ADB is a tool used to communicate with Android devices, and Fastboot is a protocol for flashing firmware on Android devices.
You can download ADB and Fastboot from the Android Developers website.
4. Download TWRP Recovery
TWRP Recovery is a custom recovery software that allows users to install custom ROMs and software on Android devices. Download TWRP Recovery for your specific Mi TV Box model and save it to your computer.
5. Boot into Fastboot Mode on Your Mi TV Box
To boot your Mi TV Box into Fastboot mode, make sure it is turned off, then press and hold the “Vol -” button on the device and connect it to your computer via USB cable.
6. Flash TWRP Recovery
Open the folder where you saved the TWRP Recovery file on your computer. Right-click on the empty space and select “Open command prompt here.”
In the command prompt, type “fastboot devices,” and you should see your Mi TV Box listed. Then, type “fastboot flash recovery” and the name of the TWRP Recovery file you downloaded.
7. Reboot Your Mi TV Box
Once the TWRP Recovery is flashed, reboot your Mi TV Box by typing “fastboot reboot” in the command prompt.
Your Mi TV Box is now jailbroken, and you can install custom ROMs and software to enhance the performance and functionality of your device.
Jailbreaking your Mi TV Box can be a risky process, so make sure to follow the steps carefully and back up your data beforehand. Always use caution when downloading and installing third-party software, and understand the potential risks before proceeding.
