How to Wire Elite Screen to 12V Trigger on Projector: A Beginner’s Guide
If you have a home theater projector, chances are you’ve also invested in a high-quality projection screen. If you own an Elite Screen and you’re wondering how to wire it to your projector’s 12V trigger, this article will guide you through the process.
Before we dive in, let’s briefly explain what a 12V trigger is. It’s essentially a low-voltage signal sent from a projector to an external device, like a screen. When the projector powers on, it sends the signal to trigger the screen to automatically lower itself down. And when you turn off the projector, the signal tells the screen to roll back up. This makes for a seamless cinematic experience without manually controlling the screen yourself.
Now, on to the wiring process. Firstly, gather the necessary tools: a wire stripper, a crimping tool, and some wire connectors. You’ll also need a 3.5mm mono TS plug, a 3-pin female XLR connector, and a spool of 22-gauge wire.
1. Measure the distance between your projector and screen to determine how much wire you’ll need to connect them. Use a wire stripper to remove the insulation from both ends of the wire.
2. Attach the 3.5mm mono TS plug to one end of the wire using the crimping tool. The tip of the plug should correspond with the positive wire, and the sleeve should correspond with the negative wire.
3. Attach the 3-pin XLR connector to the other end of the wire. Pin 1 corresponds with the negative wire, Pin 2 corresponds with the positive wire, and Pin 3 is the ground wire.
4. Connect the 3.5mm mono TS plug to the 12V trigger output on your projector. This might be labeled “screen trigger,” “trigger output,” or something similar.
5. Connect the 3-pin XLR connector to the Elite Screen’s RJ45 port labeled “trigger in.” Make sure the positive and negative wires are connected to their corresponding pins.
6. Power on your projector. The trigger signal should automatically activate the screen to lower itself down. Once you power off the projector, the signal should tell the screen to roll back up.
Congratulations, you’ve successfully wired your Elite Screen to your projector’s 12V trigger. Enjoy a seamless cinematic experience without the hassle of manually controlling the screen. |
