How to Successfully Use USB Drive on Direct TV DVR Box
If you own a Direct TV DVR Box, you may have noticed that the built-in storage capacity is limited, especially if you frequently record and store TV shows, movies, and other media content. Fortunately, you can easily expand the storage capacity of your DVR box by using a USB drive.
Using a USB drive on Direct TV DVR Box can be an effective solution for storing your favorite programs indefinitely, helping to ensure that you never miss an episode and allowing you to watch your shows or movies whenever you want. In this article, we’ll show you how to use USB drive on Direct TV DVR Box successfully.
Before you begin, it’s essential to ensure that the USB drive you are using is compatible with your Direct TV DVR Box. Direct TV supports USB drives with a maximum capacity of 2TB, so ensure that the drive you plan to use has a size below this.
Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Find the USB port on your DVR Box
Before connecting your USB drive, you need to locate the USB port on your DVR box. You can typically find it on the back of the box, near the coaxial input. The USB port will be marked with a USB symbol.
Step 2: Connect the USB drive to your DVR Box
Once youve located the USB port, insert your USB drive into the port. Next, wait for the DVR Box to recognize the file system of the USB drive (this could take a few minutes).
Step 3: Format your USB drive
If your USB drive is not pre-formatted according to the DVR Box requirements, you will need to format it manually. To do this, navigate to the Settings option on your DVR Box menu. Look for the External Hard Drive option, select format, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 4: Record programs and save them to the USB drive
Now that your USB drive is ready, youre ready to record programs and save them to the USB drive. When you press the Record button on your DVR box remote control, the program will be recorded to the USB drive automatically.
When your USB drive fills up, and you need to make more space, you have the option to delete files you no longer need, such as old programs or shows youve already watched.
Step 5: Access stored programs on the USB
To access the shows and programs you’ve recorded and saved on your USB drive, go to the menu on your DVR, and navigate to the playback or my recordings option. You should see a list of all your recorded programs, including those saved on your USB.
Using a USB drive with your Direct TV DVR Box can significantly improve your entertainment experience by giving you more control over your content and recording capabilities. By following the steps outlined above, you can successfully use a USB drive, expand your DVR storage capacity and ensure that you never miss any of your favorite shows. |
