How to Make a Laptop Projector: A Complete Guide
Have you ever wanted to present your laptops content on a bigger screen, but didnt have access to a projector? Worry not, as you can easily turn your laptop into a projector with some basic tools and a bit of know-how.
In this article, we will guide you through the process of creating a laptop projector step-by-step.
Step 1: Gather Materials
To make a laptop projector, you will need a few items:
- Cardboard box (large enough to fit your laptop)
- Magnifying lens (a 3" diameter lens will suffice)
- Black electrical tape
- Scissors
- Marker pen
- Screws
- Small LED light
Step 2: Cut the Box
Cut four panels on the cardboard box using your scissors, leaving the top and bottom flaps intact. Make sure to account for the lens position when cutting. We recommend cutting two panels on either side of the box.
Step 3: Mark and Cut Lens Hole
Using black electrical tape, cover three sides of one of the openings (except the bottom side) to create a light-tight seal. Then, mark a circle on the tape, using the lens to estimate size, and cut it out. This is where the lens will go.
Step 4: Install the Lens
Take the lens and place it into the hole cut in Step 3. Make sure the lens is snug in the hole, with no gaps between it and the cardboard box. Use the black electrical tape to seal the lens in place.
Step 5: Create a Light Source
To create your light source, use your screw to attach an LED light at the bottom of the box, i.e., opposite the lens. This way, the light will shine through the lens.
Step 6: Attach Your Laptop
Lay your laptop on the bottom flap inside the box and secure it with screws in all four corners. Make sure the screen is facing the lens.
Step 7: Test Your Laptop Projector
Plug your laptops video cable into the projector, turn on your laptop, and prepare to be amazed. You should see the image from your laptop projected on the surface opposite the lens.
In conclusion, with these simple steps, you can easily turn your laptop into a projector. The beauty of this project is that it is inexpensive, easy to make, and portable to take anywhere. So, its perfect for use in cases where you need to make presentations on the go or give lectures in unconventional spaces. |
