I have a Samsung smart TV from around 2014 which doesn't support the HBO Max app. I worked around that by purchasing the Amazon Fire Stick. That allows older TVs to receive the newer streaming services like HBO Max and Disney Plus. Just make sure you are subscribed to HBO.

Follow the below steps to download and install HBO Max app on my Samsung Smart TV

Open the Smart Hub
Choose Apps, and search for HBO Max.
Then, select and download HBO Max.
Once downloaded, open HBO Max and sign in or start your subscription. Not all Samsung TV models are supported.
